I'm Amy. This is a quiet space for whatever you're carrying — whether that's a fresh loss, an old one, or something you can't quite name yet.

There is no right way to grieve, and no timeline you have to meet. You won't be asked to explain or justify anything here. We can simply sit with what is, together, at your pace.

    How I can help

Three areas I work with, gently and at your pace.

    Bereavement and grief

Grief after any loss — sudden or expected, recent or long-held. A space to feel, remember and find your own way forward, without pressure to move on.

    Baby loss and pregnancy loss

Support after miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal loss, and through the uncertainty that can follow. I hold this work with particular care, drawing on my background as a midwife.

    Palliative and end-of-life support

For those living with a life-limiting illness, and for families facing or following a terminal diagnosis. A place to speak about what feels unspeakable.

    About Amy

I'm Amy Helen Wood, an integrative, relational counsellor and a BACP-registered practitioner. My path into counselling began in 2014, in my work as a bereavement midwife supporting families through pregnancy and baby loss.

Those years taught me how deeply grief lives in the body, how quietly it can reshape a life, and how much difference it makes to have someone alongside you who can hold space with gentleness and steadiness. Alongside my midwifery work, I have experience within a hospice setting, supporting people with life-limiting diagnoses and those grieving someone close.

I hold a degree in midwifery and continue to work as a practising NHS midwife, alongside my Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. My approach is integrative and relational, drawing on Person-Centred and Psychodynamic models to honour each person's individuality, pace and story.

My counselling is calm, spacious and rooted in nature. I believe grief needs room — room to breathe, room to be felt, room to unfold at its own pace. I offer that space through reflective one-to-one work, in a steady, compassionate environment where you can explore safely and without pressure.

    Session length
I offer 50-minute sessions within a one-hour appointment, giving you time to arrive, settle and leave the space without feeling rushed.
    Format
In person in Berkshire or Oxfordshire, online by video on Microsoft Teams, or — if it feels right — a bespoke session in your home space. We can explore together what would support you best.
    Confidentiality
Sessions are held in complete confidence, with the usual safeguarding limits. I'll always talk these through with you so everything feels clear and understood.
